Affleck to Direct Film About Wife-Swapping New York Yankees

Folks were all abuzz yesterday over the idea that Matt and Ben could be reuniting, but the really good news is that the film could be about the notorious wife swap made by two members of the New York Yankees in the early 1970s.

Affleck will direct and possibly star as one of the Yankees in the Warner Bros. film "The Trade," based on a script from "Seinfeld" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" alum Dave Mandel, reported Deadline Hollywood. Damon is said to be considering the role of the other Yankee.

Fritz Peterson and Mike Kekich were teammates on the Yankees' pitching staff from 1969 to 1973, during which time they were close friends. Both lived in New Jersey with their wives and children, often going on outings together.

One night in 1972, when the Kekiches and Petersons were on a double date, someone made a joke about wife-swapping, which was something of a fad in the good ol' days.

Well wouldn't you know it, in October of 1972, Kekich moved in moved in with Marilyn Peterson, while Peterson moved in with Susanne Kekich. By spring training of the following year, word had gotten out.

"We may have to call off Family Day," noted Yankee general manager Lee MacPhail at the time.

The image of two Red Sox fans like Damon and Affleck donning Yankee uniforms is outstanding. Please, God, let this movie be as awesome as it should be.
