Worley Goes the Distance, Phils Beat Giants

For at least one night the Phillies got their revenge.

In a rematch of the National League Championship Series, the Phillies beat the World Champion Giants 7-2 Tuesday night as righty Vance Worley went the distance for the first time in his career.

"I think I'm figuring how to pitch now," Worley said.

On a pitching staff with two Roys (Halladay, Oswalt) already on the roster, Worley (7-1) added to his ROY (Rookie of the Year) resume, allowing two runs on three hits while walking one and striking out five over nine innings.

"He did a real good job," Phillies manager Charlie Manuel said. "He's aggressive and goes right at them."

The Phillies were set to face San Francisco’s Tim Lincecum but after the Giants ace was scratched with flu-like symptoms -- the G-Men instead turned to lefty Barry Zito.

The Phillies quickly got to Zito (3-3) -- putting together a four-run, two-out rally capped by Raul Ibanez’s three-run blast.

The Phillies would add solo shots from John Mayberry, Jr. and Ryan Howard as well as an inside-the-park homer from Chase Utley.

The win extended the Phillies Major League best record to 65-37 on the season.

The same teams play Wednesday night as Cole Hamels brings his 12-5 record to the hill for the Phils.
