IronPigs Open in Allentown

IronPigs welcome a champ to throw out the first pitch of the team's fifth season

The Phillies weren’t the only area team to start their season Thursday.

Phillies Triple-A affiliate Lehigh Valley IronPigs host the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees Thursday night in the season opener at Coca-Cola Park as the team celebrates their fifth anniversary playing in Allentown, Pa.

A few tickets remain for the game, according to the IronPigs.

The pomp and circumstance of Opening Night also includes a first pitch from former Heavyweight boxing champion Larry Holmes, commemorative canvas prints for the first 3,000 adult fans, a meet and greet with the Duke-beating Lehigh University Mountain Hawks basketball team, a happy hour and much more.

As for the action on the field, Ryne Sandberg’s team will be looking to build on last season’s playoff appearance as they send righty Tyler Cloyd to the hill.
