Pence ‘Feeling Good' After Surgery

Phillies right fielder Hunter Pence is seemingly on the road to recovery after undergoing surgery.

At the least that’s what he’s telling fans on Twitter and Facebook:

“Hey everyone, been hanging around Philly. My surgery went well today and I'm feeling good. Now I can start working towards 2012 and get ready for a great full season with the Phills.”

Pence apparently hurt his knee late in the regular season but that wasn’t why he possibly needed surgery. Surgeons needed to fix a sports hernia injury that was revealed after the Phillies were eliminated from the NLDS.

The Phillies put out no official word Tuesday on Pence confirming that he did actually have the surgery.

The injury likely plagued Pence as he batted just .211 with a .496 OPS and no extra base hits while knocking in four and scoring three over 21 postseason plate appearances.

As for how long Pence will be on the mend following hernia surgery? He responded to a fan on Twitter with the answer:

"@DrewTilley I already feel better today, but mine is going to take a few weeks to recover”

As for how the 28-year-old is spending his first off-season as a Phillie -- it looks like he is having fun with the family. He posted a bunch of photos to Facebook of him hanging out with his niece and nephews.
