On Friday the Eagles announced that Troy Vincent is the latest former player to be honored as part of the team’s Hall of Fame.
A five-time time Pro Bowler and one-time All-Pro in his eight years with the Birds, Vincent grew up in nearby Trenton, N.J.
“Troy Vincent was one of the best defensive players to ever put on an Eagles uniform,” Eagles chairman/CEO Jeffrey Lurie said in a statement. “He was both a great playmaker and a true shutdown corner, but what raised his greatness to another level was the way he approached the game.”
In his time with the Birds, Vincent started 118 games posting 28 interceptions, six fumble recoveries, one touchdown return and 509 tackles. He also bought leadership to an Eagles team that would eventually make the NFC Championship Game in his final two seasons with the Birds.
“He was a spokesman for the defense and his leadership set the tone for both the younger players on the team and the veterans. He has taken that same passion and intensity into the next phase of his life as Vice President of Player Engagement for the NFL, where he continues to help former and current players succeed off the field.”
Vincent could also one day be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. But for now, the Eagles honor will have to do.
"I’m overwhelmed to be considered one of the, I guess, the top players to ever put on an Eagles uniform. I’m generally not short of words, but I don’t like and I’m not comfortable talking about myself," Vincent told reporters Friday. "This is the ultimate honor, especially growing up 20 miles from Veterans Stadium. To be considered one of the finest young men to ever put on an Eagles uniform and to participate and play for the Eagles means a lot to myself and my family."

Vincent won’t be alone when he is honored during halftime of the Eagles Monday night game against the Panthers on Nov. 26. Long-time Eagles employee Leo Carlin will also be inducted.
“Leo Carlin has had an incredible, 53-year career with the Eagles,” Lurie said. “As a longtime leader of the Eagles ticket office, he has been the face of our business to literally generations of fans. He has also been a pioneering business executive who has earned the trust and respect of his fellow employees for five decades.”
