If you love animals and hate liberals, then I got some news that will make you go all KRAYZEE down there in the comments section. President Barack Obama reportedly called Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie to praise him for giving Michael Vick a second chance. Via the lofty Peter King:

"The president wanted to talk about two things, but the first was Michael,'' Lurie told me. "He said, 'So many people who serve time never get a fair second chance. He was ... passionate about it. He said it's never a level playing field for prisoners when they get out of jail. And he was happy that we did something on such a national stage that showed our faith in giving someone a second chance after such a major downfall.''

Well, I think this makes it painstakingly clear that the President approves of killing dogs, wants to give million-dollar handouts to ex-cons, is soft on crime, was born in Libya, and IS A SOCIALIST SENT BY ALIENS TO DESTROY US ALL. How much more clear can it be?

Seriously though, there are some of you who will never forgive Vick for what he did to those dogs. And that’s all well and good.

But I’m fine with Obama praising Lurie for giving Vick a second chance. This is why we have a criminal justice system. It’s not merely to punish and deter. The other part of the system, and the one that always gets neglected, is the idea that it should reform criminals and send them back out into society better people than when they came in. The idea should be to make ex-cons productive, normal citizens, people who can contribute to the betterment of society as a whole after they get out. Vick, thus far, has been a decent example of this, if only because of his otherworldly abilities. Obama knows this isn’t usually the case with ex-cons, so he’s probably hoping that Vick can remain a good example of how the criminal justice system can improve lives, instead of merely doling out years in the joint.

But enough of that. You people have flame warring to do!
