Eagles Top Picks Inactive Again

Eagles first-round pick Danny Watkins is going to need to wait at least another week to make his NFL debut.

A week after being active for the first time but spending the game on the bench and not on the field, Watkins once again was deactivated Week 3 as the Eagles faced the Giants.

Watkins once again is joined by other top Eagles picks No. 2 pick S Jaiquawn Jarrett and third-round Eagles draft pick CB Curtis Marsh on the inactive list.

All three rookies could wind up being good players but with each week they sit out, it seems less likely.

Injured veteran Defensive ends Juqua Parker (ankle) and Darryl Tapp (pectoral) were also ruled out.

The Eagles inactive list is rounded out by rookie OL Julian Vandervelde and veteran OL Winston Justice.

One name on the active roster for the first time is QB Vince Young. The veteran signal-caller serves as an extra security blanket should starter Michael Vick and likely No. 2 Mike Kafka run into trouble.

At least Vick had one less big-time rusher going after him. The Giants inactive list was headlined by injured DE Osi Umenyiora.

And Giants QB Eli Manning is without one of his favorite targets Mario Manningham.

Osi and Mario are joined by CB Prince Amukamara, OT James Brewer, WR Michael Clayton, OG Mitch Petrus and RB Da'Rel Scott.
