Eagles Will Fall in the Big Easy: NBC10 “Experts”
Losing can have a strange effect on people. Just take a look at our NBC10 football-picking “experts” who have seemingly turned on the Birds thanks to the team’s three-game losing streak.
About 78 percent of our “experts” have the 3-4 Eagles losing to the 2-5 Saints in New Orleans Monday Night.
“’The Big Easy’ will be anything but for the Birds,” said photojournalist Rich. “Their defense is in disarray and the offense is sputtering. In other words this ship is taking on lots of water and it's not going to change against the Saints. I see New Orleans beating the Eagles 31-17.”
“This is a sinking ship” said Birds Nest blogger Brian Solomon. “Saints win 30-26.”
“Unfortunately, I think the Eagles are done,” said news anchor Tim Lake. “The Saints will win this one 21-7.”
Reporter Tim Furlong sees an even worse situation for the Birds and especially the team’s embattled quarterback.
“Michael Vick looks very mediocre -- it will be his last game as the Eagles starting QB. The Eagles defense will have no answer for Drew Brees. New Orleans 35, Eagles 14.”
Brees could be the ex-factor in this game.
“I really have no idea what Eagles team will show up,” said sports producer Dean. “Let’s see Brees vs. (Eagles defensive coordinator) Todd Bowles. Saints 24, Eagles 20.”
Not everyone picking against the Birds is so down on Vick’s team.
“I actually think the Eagles can salvage the season,” said Birds Nest blogger Ryan Wilson. “Yes, Andy Reid is perpetually on the hot seat, but Philly just needs to tweak a few things. That said, I don't think this is the week they'll do it. The Saints are good at home and they have Brees. If the defense that showed up against the Falcons is the one we see in the Superdome, New Orleans could score 50 points. Saints win 35-31.”
Someone has to be picking the Birds, right?
“Eagles 31, Saints 27,” said photojournalist Bruce. “I just think the eagles will show up offensively this week.”
This blogger agrees with Bruce, this game is the type of game the Eagles should lose – especially down on the bayou. But, this Saints team isn’t the same team that won a Super Bowl. Suspended Bounty Gate coach Sean Payton means more to the Saints than his quarterback. Without Payton, the Saints, and even Brees, don’t quite look the same.
With the Saints defense historically terrible (maybe not inking Steve Spagnuolo was a good move by Big Red) and can’t stop the pass. I’m gonna flip it around and predict a huge game (165 total yards) for LeSean McCoy as the Birds control the clock to keep Brees off the field. Eagles 34, Saints 24.
What do you think? Will the Eagles march past the Saints or is the team’s downward spiral going to continue?
