Vick, Cooper, Samuel Inactive in San Fran

Some big-time star power, as expected, won’t be suiting up for the Eagles Sunday night in San Francisco.

QB Michael Vick, WR Riley Cooper, TE Clay Harbor, RB Joique Bell, T Austin Howard, LB Keenan Clayton, CB Asante Samuel and DE Daniel Te’o-Nesheim were all ruled out for the Birds.

Really there were no surprises there since regulars Vick, Samuel and Cooper are all battling injuries and didn’t even fly with the team. Bell and Harbor both could have possibly gotten a roster nod with injuries to the Eagles offense but with RB LeSean McCoy suited up and WR Chad Hall making his debut the normally inactive Birds weren’t needed.

Kevin Kolb will make his first career road start, as Michael Vick tends to sore ribs.

Vick, Cooper and Asante all might have been left home but McCoy made the trip out west and plans to play despite breaking a rib last week against the Redskins.

Kolb talked about what McCoy’s presence means to the Eagles.

“He’s tough as nails... We knew that long before but he just proves it when he comes in last week and breaks it… never said a word about it.

“It’s a tribute to him and how bad he wants it and how bad we all want it.

“We are very focused to win this game.”

The 49ers inactives were CB Tremaine Brock, WR Kyle Williams, WR Jason Hill, TE Delanie Walker, T Barry Sims, C Eric Heitmann, T Alex Boone and third-string QB Troy Smith.
