Ugly Hit Forces DeSean Jackson Out of Falcons Game

Wideout DeSean Jackson was knocked out of the Eagles 31-17 win Sunday after a helmet-to-chin hit by Falcons corner Dunta Robinson.

The vicious hit came on  third and six slant pass from Kevin Kolb to D-Jax early in the second quarter. Right after Jackson hauled in the pass Robinson leveled him with a headfirst hit.

Jackson and Robinson both remained down for several minutes before each player was helped off to the locker room.

D-Jax wouldn't return with what the Eagles originally called a "head injury" -- they later said Jackson suffered a concussion and shoulder injury, according to Birds Nest's John Clark.

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer later reported the injury to be a "severe concussion," according to his Twitter.

Robinson also wouldn't return with a head injury, the Falcons announced. He was flagged 15 yards for hitting a defenseless receiver and could likely expect a league fine for the hit.

Before getting knocked out Action Jackson rushed twice for 44 yards including a 31-yard TD and caught a 34-yard TD pass.

With Jackson sidelined, Kolb would lean on Jeremy Maclin and Jason Avant as his main targets. Maclin caught an 8-yard TD to put the Eagles up 21-0 and wound up finishing the game with seven grabs for 159 yards and two TDs.
