Baseball All-Star Wishes That Vick Got Hurt: Reports

It’s no secret that everyone wasn’t thrilled to see Eagles QB Michael Vick return to stardom after he spent nearly two years in federal prison for dogfighting.

Some animal activists voiced their displeasure that Vick was able to play football after abusing dogs -- while others appreciated Vick’s efforts to talk to others about the horrors of dogfighting.

But while some people might not like Vick and might even secretly wish him harm, Chicago White Sox All-Star pitcher Mark Buehrle allegedly took it a step further.

MSNBC.com's Off the Bench blog has the quote:

“(Vick) had a great year and a great comeback, but there were times where we watched the game and I know it's bad to say, but there were times where we hope he gets hurt. Everything you've done to these dogs, something bad needs to happen to these guys.”

Buehrle, who along with his wife Jamie, is passionate about animal rights, allegedly made the comments during an interview with MLB.com’s Scott Merkin.

Merkin tweeted about the quote, according to USA Today. But the quote was later removed from Merkin’s Twitter feed and the MLB.com story.

Instead some peripheral jabs at Vick were left in the article but the quote calling for bodily harm to the Eagles signal caller was gone.

What do you think about Buehrle’s alleged jab at Vick? Was it fair for him to call out Vick because of his past atrocities? Or did the pitcher overstep in ripping the Eagles leader?
