Summer Preview: Wildwood

Here is a preview on what to expect at one of the liveliest shore towns in Jersey this summer.

If you’re looking for non-stop excitement, head down to what may be the most popular beach spot for Philadelphians, “The Wildwoods” – guaranteed to be one heck of a party all summer long.

By day you’ll see loads of kids strolling the boardwalk, which is almost two miles long and crowded with amusement parks, arcades, food and shopping.

The beaches are wide and best of all--they’re free.

There is always an event, festival or concert going on during the summer, so check out the calendar to plan the best weekend for your travel.

If you’ve ever ventured out in Wildwood after sunset, you know that Keenan’s (in North Wildwood) is a popular destination. Unfortunately, the place gets packed (and we mean packed) quickly, but not to fear, Echo’s is right across the street and Westy’s authentic Irish pub is just down the way.

The Starlight Fleet is a popular attraction in Wildwood. If you want to test out your sea legs, guests can purchase tickets to set sail and fish or dolphin watch. If you’re lucky, you may even spot a whale. The Starlight Fleet offers a dinner cruise that will run you around $40 dollars, but it’s all you can eat.

If you want to stay oceanfront this summer, expect to pay over $100 a night. For an unconventional hotel experience, try the Starlux Hotel. Its neat décor and family-oriented atmosphere keeps Wildwood lovers coming back year after year.

And if you're feeling spontaneous, take a ride down Atlantic or Ocean Avenue and pick a hotel that catches your eye.

No matter where you stay, Wildwood is what being "down the shore" is all about.
