HERE FISHY, FISHY: With the warm of the summer sun and masses of people heading to the coastlines, seafood becomes the meal of choice. But overfishing is a problem that people don’t readily think about. In an attempt to raise awareness of this problem, The Academy of Natural Sciences will hold a free screening of the new documentary “The End of the Line” tonight at 6:30 p.m. Dr. David Velinsky, the Academy’s vice president, will also speak. For more questions, call 215.299.1000.

TIMELESS: Head down to World Café Live and check out veteran musician Bob Schneider. With a lengthy recording career including 20 albums, Schneider is a legend in the Austin music scene. His music spans many genres including rap, blues, country, Latin, swing, soul and even bluegrass. Tickets are $25 and $35 and can be bought at the World Café Live Web site.

POWERFUL POETS: Get your poetry on tonight at the Fishtown Airways Gallery with featured poets Mel Brake and G. Emil Reutter. Brake has been featured in many poetry publications including Philadelphia Poets 2007 and 2008, Mad Poets Review, Fox Chase Review, and the Philadelphia Bulletin. Reutter has several of his collections of short fiction and poetry published with his latest entitled Blue Collar Poet. After the featured poets, an open mic will follow. The poetry starts at 7 p.m. and the event is free.
