The time to say goodbye to America’s showplace is today.

The "Last Stroll" at the Spectrum begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 1 p.m., and it's free and open to all who want a chance to say goodbye to the arena, which will be torn down to make way for a hotel/retail complex.

”The Spectrum is a very special place for so many millions of people,” said Comcast-Spectacor Chairman Ed Snider. “We know how passionate the residents of the Philadelphia region are about the Spectrum. We’d like the ‘Last Stroll’ to be an opportunity for everyone who ever attended an event at the Spectrum to return, reflect on the memories, bring their families and remember all of the great times they had.”

Fans can grab dollar drinks and dogs, purchase Spectrum merchandise, walk the concourse, hang out on the event floor and check out the locker rooms where great athletes have showered, prepared for games and suffered defeat.

“Many fans have asked us for an opportunity to take one more lap or to visit the locker rooms before we close the Spectrum. This event is really our way of saying ‘thank you’ to all of the fans over the past 42 years who helped make the Spectrum such a special place,” said Comcast –Spectacor President Peter Luukko.

Philly's Sport Radio 610 WIP will broadcast live from the event and Flyer alumni like Ed Hospodar, Bob Kelly, Joe Watson, Orest Kindrachuck and Dave Shultz will paying their respects to the Spectrum and spending time with fans.

The Spectrum, which opened in 1967, will officially close with two last shows on Oct. 30 and 31. Pearl Jam will play the final notes to echo through the arena.
