MARTINIS AND MAGOS: Start the holiday weekend by heading to the Art Museum for Art After 5. Enjoy martinis and listen to the music of Magos Herrera, a Mexican native known for her beautiful voice that blends perfectly with her jazz-fused Latin American melodies. Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors and $10 for students with ID or youths. Herrera will take the stage at 5:45 p.m.

PUMPED FOR THE POPS: For more than 30 seasons, Philly’s own Peter Nero and the Philadelphia Pops have been entertaining the city with their versions of popular jazz, swing, Broadway songs and blues. The Pops will play a free concert under the stars at Independence Mall at 8:30 p.m. as part of Sunoco’s Welcome America celebration. Blankets, chairs and even picnic baskets are encouraged.

COME ON, FEEL THE NOISE: Feel the beat when you head down to the 941 Theater and “Let Your Body Take Control.” With tracks being spun by DJs Trill Bass, Swytch and Claw, Ana Sia, Dev 79 and Sonkin, the night is sure to get your body moving. The grooves start at 9 p.m. and tickets are $12 at the door or $10 in advance. For more information, head to the 941 Theater Web site, or call 215.235.1385.
