What LIONS AND TIGERS AND BEERS: Oh my! The Philadelphia Zoo has teamed up with Rolling Barrell Events to bring you one hell of a good time. The Summer Ale Festival at the zoo will feature a sampling of sustainable food and regional craft beers, as well as a lecture directly from the brewers. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the education and conservation programs at the zoo. Tickets are broken down into three categories and include admission, parking, beer and food. For $75, you get a private educational seminar with an exclusive brewer, a souvenir pilsner tasting glass and goodie bag. The $50 general admission ticket includes a souvenir pilsner tasting mug. And they are also offering a $20 designated driver ticket that includes tickets for two non-alcoholic beverages. You must buy tickets online before the event, as the zoo will not be selling tickets at the door.
COFFEE CLASS: Head down to Old City Coffee and meet with roaster extraordinaire Art Dupras. He will demonstrate the method of French Roast using an antique cast iron coffee roaster and raw coffee, followed by a question and answer session. The event is free and starts at 2 p.m.
