DISCO ISN'T DEAD: They've been named one the most promising bands in the country by American Eagle’s New Music Union and they have only been around for a year and a half. They are My Dear Disco and they'll be the August residents of World Café Live. Coming out of the Ann Arbor/Detroit music scene, My Dear Disco’s live show has been hailed as one of the best. The concert starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are $11. Go check them out and say that you knew them before they were popular.
BEER AND A BIRTHDAY: In what could be the biggest party the city has seen in years, McGillin’s Olde Ale House turns 150 on New Year's Day. So in anticipation -- and to debut their newest brew -- McGillin’s is throwing a party to celebrate the 150 days until the new year. The Daily News’ Joe Sixpack will be on hand, as well as McGillin’s 1860 IPA for a night you don’t want to miss. The bar is even offering a three-beer sampler including McGillin's Real Ale, McGillin's Genuine Lager and the new McGillin's 1860 IPA for just $5. Don’t miss it.
HELLO NEWMAN: You can’t deny it, Paul Newman was the man. And even though he was taken from us way too soon, you can still check out your favorite salad dressing spokesman on the silver screen tonight in Bryn Mawr. For under $10, you can catch a screening of Newman’s modern day Western “Hud” at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute. The movie starts at 7 p.m.
