9/4: Comedy, Creations and a Concert

Laughs with Larkins: Have a Friday night full of laughs with comic Sean Larkins. Larkins has appeared on BET’s Comic View and HBO’s Def Comedy Jam. Known for his versatility and focus on creating original characters, Larkins is a force to be reckoned with. He is a founding member of “The Black Top Circus,” one of the only black improve groups in the nation. Check him out tonight, as he is sure to bring a show to Philadelphia. First Friday: It’s the first Friday of the month and you know what that means. No, not pay day, First Friday. Head into Old City for the 40-plus galleries, people and good eats. This Friday, experience a little something extra as the Philadelphia Live Arts and Philly Fringe invade. Featured events are The Atomic Catwalk and It’s Not Me It’s You. You can also check out exhibits like Face to Face at the Cerulean Arts Gallery and Studio and Fresh 2009 at the Projects Gallery, just to name a few. Take a Journey: Head out of the city tonight to see legendary rockers, Journey, take the stage in A.C. This California band has been rockin' since the 70s and known for such hits like "Don't Stop Believing," "Any Way You Want It" and "Open Arms."  They've had 18 Top 40 hits, sold 47 million albums and had the top downloads by any artist on iTunes after their music was featured in The Sopranos finale.
