9/23: Cocktails, Celebrities and a Concert

Night Under the Stars: Come to The Philadelphia Orchestra’s opening night under the stars at the Piazza at Schmidts. The local hotspot will feature cocktails and cuisine at the swanky Cescaphe Ballroom, followed by a live and in-concert performance by the orchestra seen on a 40-foot Daktoniks LED screen in the Piazza. Enjoy dinner and dessert al fresco as you take in the night of luxury. A portion of all proceeds will benefit The Philadelphia Orchestra’s Education and Community Partnership programs. The Piazza at Schmidts, Germantown Avenue and 2nd Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19123, +21, $100, 5:30 p.m.

Diamonds and Denim: Phillies pitcher, Cole Hamels and his wife Heidi host the star-studded Diamonds and Denim event at Union Trust Steakhouse tonight. Put on your denim and head down to meet and greet celebrities, enjoy cocktails and appetizers, bid in a live auction, laugh with comedian Joe Conklin and see LeAnn Rimes and Tony Orlando. Plus, have the chance to win up to $25k in diamonds from Bernie Robbins Jewlers. The event will benefit The Hamels Foundation, helping improve poverty through education. Union Trust Steakhouse, 717 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19106, $300-$500, 7 p.m.

Saved by the Belding: Because Dustin Diamond (Screech from Saved by the Bell) didn’t cause enough damage when he invaded Philly, now Mr. Belding is coming. That’s right—meet your favorite high school principal (real name Dennis Haskins) as he visits McFadden’s Saloon. Sip on $1 Miller Lite drafts, meet the man himself and possibly walk home with a box set of hit show, Saved by the Bell. McFadden’s Saloon, 461 North 3rd Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19123, +21, 9 p.m.
