Paul Mooney: All this week it’s the Philadelphia Comedy Festival at Laff House on South Street. Beginning tonight, the hilarious and controversial Paul Mooney kicks off the festival at 8 p.m. With taboo topics regarding race relations, racism, African-American culture and history, Mooney speaks his mind and that’s why all his fans love him. Over the years, Mooney has played the roles of actor, writer and comedian with projects such as Good Times, Saturday Night Live, In Living Color, Bamboozled and most recently, Good Hair. Bring a friend or a relative as all tickets are sold in pairs. Laff House, 221 South Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19147, +18, $25, 8 p.m.

Shakers and Stirrers: Whether you’re looking for a job or a career shift, come to Triumph in Old City tonight for some mix and mingling with top business professionals. Networking for Professionals will host this great event with complimentary small bites and happy hour specials. Specials include $3 pints of beer, $4 house wine and $5 mixed well drinks. Register early for a full list of attendees. Bring your business cards and business mindset for tons of perspective opportunities. Triumph Brewing Company, 117-121 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19106, $10-$20, 6 p.m.

Miley Cyrus: Whether you love her or hate her, we bet you can’t resist her country pop tunes that have been on the radio non-stop recently. Known for role as Hannah Montana, Miley Cyrus will be performing as herself tonight at the Wachovia Center. Join your kids or friends as you bring out the buried teen-bopper you have inside. Sing along to “See You Again” or “Party in the U.S.A.” all night long. Wachovia Center, 3601 South Broad Street, Philadelphia, Pa. 19148, $43.25-$83.25, 7 p.m.
